E-Commerce Project Planner

Fourteen short questions about your products, platform, payments, shipping and launch timing. The planner turns your answers into a plain text brief you can keep, share with your team or send to any developer.

How it works

Answer as many questions as you can; you can leave any blank. When you press "Build my brief", the planner assembles your answers into a text document on this page. Nothing is sent to us or stored anywhere. You can then download the brief as a text file or copy it.

Please do not include card numbers, passwords or store admin logins. A brief never needs them.

For example: handmade ceramics for home cooks, mostly bought as gifts.
3. Roughly how many products will the store have at launch?
5. Do you have a platform in mind for the new store?
7. Which payment options do you want to offer?
Carriers you use, flat rates or calculated rates, free shipping thresholds, click and collect.
9. Where will you sell and ship?
10. Which systems should the store connect to?
11. Where are your product photos and descriptions up to?
For example: subscriptions, gift cards, product bundles, size guides, trade pricing, reviews.
13. What budget range are you working with (AUD)?

Where the brief goes next

Send it with your enquiry through the contact page, and our first reply can go straight to specifics. It is just as useful for comparing quotes from different providers, since everyone answers the same questions. If you are still choosing a platform, read the platform comparison alongside your answers to questions 3, 5, 6 and 10; those four usually decide it.

Why these questions

Each question maps to a decision that changes the scope and cost of a store. Product count and catalogue complexity affect platform choice and setup time. Who maintains the store affects whether a hosted or self-hosted platform suits you. Payments, shipping and markets affect checkout setup and tax settings. Integrations are often the largest single variable in a quote. Content readiness affects the timeline more than almost anything else. The launch checklist guide explains the rules behind several of these choices.
