Purpose
Cartmavrix publishes guides for people running online stores in Australia. They aim to be accurate, useful and clear about where their information comes from. They are general information, not legal, tax or financial advice.
Sources
Guides rely first on primary sources: regulators such as the ACCC, ATO, OAIC, ACMA and the Reserve Bank, standards bodies such as the PCI Security Standards Council and W3C, legislation and parliamentary materials, and official platform documentation. Where a primary source does not cover a point, we may use a secondary source such as a law firm summary, labelled as secondary. Price ranges come from commercial price guides, labelled as commercial publishers, with the date of the figures.
Every guide ends with a numbered source list. Each entry gives the title, the publisher, the source's own date where it has one and the type of source. Statements in the text link to the entry that supports them.
What we avoid
- Statistics, quotes or claims we cannot trace to a source
- Describing what clients or stores typically do as if we had measured it
- Testimonials, ratings, case studies or client names we do not have
- Presenting a secondary reading of a rule as the rule itself
Commercial interests
The owner of Cartmavrix has commercial interests in web design services, and Cartmavrix sells e-commerce website services. Guides may link to our services where relevant, but the information in them does not depend on whether you hire us. We have no commission or referral arrangements with the platforms or tools discussed.
Updates
Guides show the date they were last updated. When a rule, a platform requirement or a cited price guide changes, the affected guides are revised, the date changes and the sources are rechecked.
Corrections
If you find an error, email hello@cartmavrix.store with the page and the issue. We check it against the sources and correct the page if needed. Substantive corrections are noted at the end of the affected page with the date of the change.
Authorship
Guides are written by our editor, who uses the pen name Lucas Foster. No invented credentials are attached to that name.
